Prieur Mask Update

If you own a Prieur Foil or Epee mask, please read this carefully before your next competition.

The Prieur mask is equipped with a patented bib attachment system that has provided exceptional safety and durability for over 40 years. However, SEMI — the FIE committee responsible for regulating equipment — has requested an upgrade to bring it in line with new standards and to simplify inspection at international competitions.

As a result, a small but important change has been made: an extra rivet added to the ring at chin level. This update has been applied to all masks manufactured since June 2025.

This change must be present on all Prieur masks presented during weapon checks at FIE and US competitions for the 2025–2026 season.

Common Questions

My mask is 350N, not FIE-1600N — do I still need to return it?
Yes, we recommend it. Weapon checks at events may not always distinguish between mask types. Without the update, your mask could be refused even if it's not strictly required for 350N masks. Returning it ensures compliance and peace of mind.
I don't compete — should I return my mask?
You don't have to, but if you ever decide to participate in a competition — even casually — you'll be glad you did. The free update aligns with evolving standards, so it's a smart proactive step for any fencer.

We understand the competition season is about to begin — we promise to retrofit your mask as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.
